A Hotfessional Interview

questions300

The Hotfessional,  Ree has taken a sip of the interview kool-aid and passed the cup to me. Since I have an over-inflated sense of my own importance, it is with great delight that I answer her interview questions. But first, THE RULES:

You have to link back to the original post (http://immoralmatriarch.com/questionsagain) and include the following in your post:
1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
That’s it. I’ll include the rules and everything in the email with the questions.

Now then, on to Ree’s Questions:

1-What is the very favorite piece of clothing you ever had?

I suppose I should say something very sentimental here like “my wedding gown”, but the truth is that I attended parochial schools with uniforms most of my life. When I did have “play clothes” they were generally items from Sears in an alarming assortment of colors (picture pumpkin orange Toughskin jeans paired with vertically striped avocado and copper tee shirts, shudder).

So for me it was a huge deal when I was 14 and my mother let me go to the mall alone and buy my first pair of blue jeans.  They were glorious!  Cigarette legs with no hem and a perfect shade of indigo blue, I wore them all the way through college until there was quite literally more holes than fabric. For years they stayed in my bottom drawer before I regretfully threw them out to make room for my Spouse’s stuff. I love Spouse, but you never forget your first…jeans.

2-If you could have dinner with one Prime Minister/President who would it be?

Does it have to be a democratically elected head of state? Because I’d love to have a few choice words with several tin pot dictators.

OK, I’ll follow the rules. My choice is Pratibha Patil, President of India and the first woman to hold this office.  I want to ask her why a candidacy that showed so much promise has gone nowhere and if the rumors of her “fiddling while Rome burned” during the recent Mumbai attacks are true (she is accused of not wanting to be disturbed because she was watching a movie in her home- ironically a movie about terrorism).  I’d like to think that she has not lost heart in the face of her opponents and disclosures of familial criminal activity.  Most of all, I would want to ask her about the legislation she put through to ensure religious freedom and her views on the effect that legislation has had on India since it’s passage.
3-What did you want to be named when you were younger?  (Like 7-ish?)

Lynda with a Y. For the record I hated my name. Joie (pronounced Joey) was an odd name. I got called Joy, Joanie, Jody, Julie, and one friend’s mom even called me Jelly for over a year (we didn’t correct her). But with a name like Lynda, a girl could rule the world.

I have to say I like my name now.  I work in construction, and it fills me with an evil glee when I get a call asking for Joie:  “No hon, I need to talk to JOEY. You are?snigger.
4-What’s your favorite smell?

Warm meadow grass with wild flowers.
5-If you found out that you were reincarnated in your current life, who would you have been in your prior life?

I have recurring dreams beginning in early childhood about a large white clapboard farmhouse with a wrap around porch and an enormous barn with a hayloft. It has a circular gravel drive with a 1920’s Packard maroon convertible.  The air is cool and smells like barley.  For the last 25 years the dream ends with me hurrying down a hill in front of the house to tell Spouse something important before he takes off in a wicked cool single wing plane from a grass airstrip.  He doesn’t look like Spouse, but it’s definitely him, not some generic husband.  The scenario is probably something I saw in a movie or one of my grandfather’s photo albums, but it’s so vivid, right down to the Swiss dot curtains in the windows, that I occassionally wonder.

Now then, it’s your turn.  I love talking about myself so feel free to ask me any question you’d like to know. Don’t forget to leave a comment on this post saying “Interview me”.  I will ask you five questions just for you because I am very nosey and want to know your business. The questions will be based on your blog, so don’t blame me.  There is no limit on how many commenters I’ll interview, just make sure that you leave your comment on this particular post if you want to play along.

If you had Toughskins, does that also mean you had Garanimals?

Lynda for Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) or did you just like the name?

I would NEVER, EVER have guessed that you pronounce your name Joey. ;-) I thought it was a very, very French “jwa”

See, damnit, I always pronounce it Shwoy in my head. (It’s that sort of Canadian thing, where everything and the monkey’s butt is pronounced with a faint French accent.)

    I love your name.

I always thought it was pronounced Joy as well, probably because I grew up with twins Joie and Jolie, pronounced Joy and ZJoe-lee. Like in France.

    Please interview me.

  • 12 Dawn // Jan 17, 2009 at 8:41 pm

Well, the question I would have asked is what is your first name… ;) BTW, I love the name Joie (and I’m not just sayin’ that). One of the mom’s on my birth board named her August ‘04 daughter Joie and I have loved it ever since. So maybe I can ask this: How did you come up with your kid’s blog names?

Anyway, I am feeling a bit brave tonight and I just love your blog and so if it is not too late it would be an honor if you would interview me. :) - and I’ll try to keep the run-on sentences to a minimum.

    hee hee!
