Tough Transitions

August 25th, 2009 · 7 Comments

Ack! Ack! Ack!
First day of High School!
First Day of College!
Paperwork! Paperwork! Paperwork!
Bills! Bills! Bills!
Sighs! Sulks!
One lost in the hallways! One lost in the city!
Two parents stressed.
One house that has fallen apart.
Papers! Papers! Papers everywhere!
Laundry! Laundry! Laundry!
And then…
Two smiling kids.
A smiling dad.
A mom who can finally catch her breath to blog again.
And smile.

George Lopez Can Hoover It

August 14th, 2009 · 7 Comments

The trip to the High School for Bunnie’s schedule went well. She saw a friend and felt much better. I won’t say she relaxed, but she did feel much better. When I came home from work, she was even able to chat about it a little. Big improvement. Then it happened.
She and her brother turned [...]

Grinding Along

August 12th, 2009 · 3 Comments

Yesterday I was out of the office with a stomach thing. Needless to say, it was a pretty quiet day. Yesterday evening though, I went to see a wonderful film at the uber-hip Magnolia courtesy of the mah peeps at Autism Speaks.
The movie is called Adam and I posted a review with the official trailer [...]

Busy Busy Busy

August 6th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Too busy to blog? Yep. Posted something new on Monday. The ‘puter ate it. Decided I didn’t have the time to re-write from scratch.
I do have something fresh to read here.  Well, not exactly fresh since I posted it last weekend, but not quite wilting around the edges, yet.
There hasn’t been much time for blogging [...]

Friday Flashback

Because I’m still too hot to string two words together, I’m recycling a post from May 2006 that still amuses me.

Remember The Plastic Bag Puppet?

June 21st, 2009 · 7 Comments

My Dad traveled constantly when I was little. Mum worked through her loneliness with enormous projects like wallpapering every room in the house and repairing antiques and refinishing furniture and maintaining the most beautiful garden in our neighborhood. The woman could do anything and she did everything.
The thing is, she would work until she lost [...]

Graduation Day

June 7th, 2009 · 6 Comments

So Friday was the big night. Bear was already gone to rehearsal when I arrived home from work. My parents came to the house an hour early, worried that they would arrive too late. We headed off to the big theater up the way and had a very frightening time getting them up and down [...]

When The Bus Stops

June 4th, 2009 · 8 Comments

Today is the last day of school. Bear is picking Bunny up at early dismissal and they are going to their favorite sushi joint to celebrate. Tomorrow Bear walks across the stage to collect his high school diploma. One kid down, one to go.
I have a little potluck tonight with girlfriends. I’m not sure what [...]

Cutting Apron Strings

May 25th, 2009 · 6 Comments

Forget Memorial Day Weekend. Around here it’s Prom weekend. And oh! Did the boy have a wonderful time! It was his first all-nighter (he stayed at the school lock-in until 5:00, then took a pack of girls out for breakfast), and it was my first all night nail-biter.
During the course of my post prom interrogation [...]
