The boy is working this summer and I’m going bonkers. Every time I turn around to look for my slave er, child, he’s gone. Who will do the dishes? Who will take out the trash? Who will pull the weeds? Who will scoop da poop from my back yard? Poor Spouse, you will be so tired from all your extra chores. As for me, I’m just a wee bit sad.
Now, don’t go pointing out to me that he still has another year of High School. Don’t try to cheer me up with promises of football games, Prom and Graduation. I see what’s really going on around here. How is this for evidence? This morning I go to the drugstore and instead of Mr. Bubble for the tubble, my shopping list says Axe For Men drives girls wild. This is unacceptable.
Oh, he may still stop to give me a hug before heading out the door to be the object of bikini clad teen hussy daydreams, but he no longer shouts “Choo-choo!” when we pass a train or calls “Cookie, Cookie!” when I’m baking (ok, he still does that). I just want to know when he switched from happy meals to sushi.
Thank Heavens for the dog. She’ll never grow up. She’ll never leave me. She’ll never…”Hey! Get out of the garbage!”…
Have a safe day at work, my Bear.

That smile! What a handsome young man. Definitely someone to make a mother proud.

What a great looking kid! Sorry about the lack of a slave.

I keep telling myself that I have my son do so many chores to instill a good work ethic; I hadn’t really thought about what this might mean, i.e., that he will go get a job someday and leave me in the lurch.
He’s still 8 though, so I have some time.

Don’t make me breathe into a paper bag. I cannot let mine grow up either. And, dogs? Switch sides.

and I here I was lamenting that my slave is only here for a few months in the summer and then occasional weeks during the year!

That’s a sweet tribute to your boy. Sounds like you’ve got lots of memories, anyway, while he’s working out of the home:)

That is one good-looking boy. I suspect he doesn’t really need the Axe stuff (which I never heard of). And he’s a lifeguard? Oy.

Your new larger version of boy seems pretty nifty to me…but I do know about the missing. Middle is so big and he rarely lets me smoosh and hug him.
(and he REEKS of Axe, which is better than the alternative, I guess)

Oh my, looks like I’d missplaced your new site address! Glad I’m getting caught up - he’s looking VERY grown up!

Your boy is a handsome guy. You’ll have to watch out now that Axe is in play!
