Welcome to our home! Spouse is still at work, and as you can see, one child is up and has had a rummage in his stocking while the other is still abed.
The tree is all decked with plenty of shiny packages under it to be opened after Daddy gets home. Our trusty angel on top of the tree is keeping watch for me while I busy myself in the kitchen.
Of course I also take a heathenish delight in some of my favorite ornaments:
The pickle is hidden and waiting for the kids to find it. First one to find it gets a wish!
And because I’m not such a heathen after all, Here is my nativity. Girlchild may love the one she put on our mantle (a wedding gift from the ladies at our church), but I love this creche from oldest sister. See how the BVM is cuddling Christ? See how the men around her all have doofy baby faces? Here’s good ol’ St. Joe
and another favorite of mine, the kindly Innkeeper. Boychild always called him the Grandpa. I never corrected him. He does look rather grandfatherly, doesn’t he?
I hope you all have a happy, peaceful Christmas. I’m off to spend the rest of the day with mine. And to Maria who made the most scrumptious tamales in the world for our Christmas Eve dinner, thank you! They were wonderful!

I heard about the pickle search from someone else although the person that finds it gets to open the first gift. I like the wish idea better!
