It’s Monday night. The whole family is gathered ’round the tele to watch our favorite show, The Big Bang Theory. A funny argument erupts on the show over String Theory Quantum Mechanics vs. Loop Theory Quantum Gravity and our son asks, “What is String Theory?”. Spouse pauses the show, gives me a nod with a familiar gleam in his eyes, and we both rub our hands with glee.
For the next 45 minutes the four of us have a spirited discussion on the merits of the two theories and their applications to particulate matter, time, space, black holes, time travel and various Star Trek episodes.
I believe that in the end we created a model to prove our own theory. I call it:
The Theorum of Familial Geekiness
Remind me to write a dissertation on it sometime.

if my hubby was there he would have been in the middle of that conversation as a big time Trek fan…in fact he can also quote episodes and tell you which one this happened in and what it was about.
