Swimming Against The Tide

Why do I feel like I’m on a treadmill and every time I take a step forward I move two steps back?

  • I had planned to post photos of my gorgeous renovated dining room.  My Darling Spouse attempted to get all the wallpaper up for me while I was laid low.  The next day it bubbled and buckled and peeled from the wall.  He has no idea how much I adore him when I look at the mess.  Not many men would try something they did not want to do and did not feel comfortable doing, just to please the wife. Today I get to go buy more wallpaper and begin the three week wait for delivery.  I also must call the wallpaper service guys for an estimate on putting it up for me.
  • Spouse had planned a Columbus Day family getaway with the dog in Galveston.  Ike literally blew our rental away.  Today I am trying to find a budget/kids/dog friendly alternate.  Not such an easy task this close the date.  This place seems nice and has a vacancy.  What do you think of Hot Springs, Arkansas?
  • I have a huge stack of books mocking me from my bedside table.  “Read me! Read me!”, they call.  I wish I could concentrate long enough to open them.
  • I have a blank computer screen staring back at me shouting “Where’s the funny?  Post something funny!”, but my funny bone is feeling a little bruised this week.
  • I have so much laundry to do the laundry room door can not close.  Yes, the laundry is overflowing from the baskets and hampers onto the floor and trying to spill into my kitchen.  I tried threatening it with a broom, “Back! Back, you Beast!”, but the dirty clothes and linens keep surging forward.

Hope your Saturday is a happy peaceful one.  If you don’t hear from me again, you’ll know the laundry monster got me.

For me, the reason that it feels one step forward two steps back is because it IS one step forward two steps back.

Love that my new alcoholic beverage of choice hit the weekly pick (and not yesterday’s post, which fills me with shame).

I’ve heard great things about Hot Springs, dear. I knew a couple of ladies who went three times a year.

First thing - tomorrow I’m trying the coq au vin recipe but with whole chicken breast instead. It’ll make a nice sunday night dinner.

I can’t even talk about laundry. Mostly because once again I’m 3 weeks behind, and playing on the internet catching up on reading blogs and twitters instead of folding the clean stuff thats been in the basket, next to the couch for TWO weeks. My mom used to do laundry for a family of 5 twice a week. I wonder if it might be easier to do less smaller loads more often.

On another note, took my son to The Puyallup Fair today, in the rain. Spent $60 for the two of us, and had a blast!

btw - I didn’t make the coq au vin as I did not have any mushrooms, and my red wine was almost vinegar. Later this week probably. I made a chicken a la king instead. Hope its yummy.
