Today is the last day of school. Bear is picking Bunny up at early dismissal and they are going to their favorite sushi joint to celebrate. Tomorrow Bear walks across the stage to collect his high school diploma. One kid down, one to go.
I have a little potluck tonight with girlfriends. I’m not sure what kind of company I’ll be. To say I’m distracted is a bit of an understatement. I’m bringing this pasta salad.
Can you tell I’ve been obsessing on food lately? It’s easier than sobbing constantly over my little baby boy graduating. Yes, after 15 years (including early intervention) of worrying, advocating and coping with red tape, I’m a little freaked out that the happy ending is finally here. I’m proud of him and at a total loss at the same time. How weird is that?
And Bunny! She made my day yesterday. At dinner she told us how she found a $100 bill outside school. She turned it in immediately, even though she couldn’t help thinking finder’s keepers. That was some temptation for a teenager to overcome. I’m sure there was a very relieved child in the school office thanks to her good judgement. Now I ask you, how’d I get such great kids?

Good job Bunny! That’s clearly the result of great parenting.

I’m guessing that they were raised right.

Yep, you made ‘em that way! That’s how!
And congratulations to Bear! I really don’t know what in the world I’ll do with myself when advocating for my boy child at school is no longer my full-time job, so I can just imagine how you feel!

boy how time flies! I can’t believe Bear is old enough to graduate (much less drive or go to the prom!). I’ll see you tonight and I’m sure you will be great company! I’m bringing mississippi mud brownies, I of course had to taste them last night after making them and they aren’t bad!

You MADE those kids.
I’d offer to send you tissues to get you through graduation, but mine are all gone.
