I love my food processor.
When the very first one came out I HAD to have it. Do you remember the siren’s call of La Machine…whirr… La Machine…Whirr!…La Machine by Moulinex? They were ghastly expensive, but my parents gave in and bought me one for my seventeenth birthday. Ooo La La! It was amazing! I’m now on my third food processor, because I use them hard.
However, there is one thing I never use my processor for. Food processors will ruin your canned goods. Processors break down the pectin in your fruits and can cause your jams to not set. They also over process your sauces and butters so that you will get something more like juice.
When canning and preserving it’s better to use old fashioned methods and tools like a potato masher, strainer and a food mill. In this case, Great Grandma really does know best.

But what about if you do a quick spin in the processor to create a coarsely chopped sauce?

I never knew that….mind you in our house the husband is the one who makes jam - and he likes being macho with knives!
I think my Magimix is on the way out

funny-for me it was the vita-mix. I ‘needed’ for 10 years. Now I have it and kick myself for all the times I don’t use it!

If our vegetable garden will finally yield some tomatoes and peppers and I can finally use my processor to make hot sauce.

I hate our food processor. I would rather chop all day, because whoever designed the bloody thing NEVER HAD TO CLEAN IT.
