Why Zombies Don’t Attack Texas

The other evening we were discussing an unpleasant incident that involved a maniac and a crowd of people.  Immediately my husband,  son and darling little daughter chimed in,  “Why didn’t anybody shoot him?”.  When I explained that the incident did not happen in Texas, they all nodded knowingly.

It was then that my son told me why there will never be a Zombie Apocalypse in Texas,  “You know Mom, if the zombies came here, everybody would be on their roofs with a shotgun, a box of ammo, and an ice chest full of beer.”

I looked at my sweet little Bear who was never allowed to play with war toys or violent video games.  I came to the conclusion that good ol’ boys are born, not bred and in the case of a Zombie Apocalypse they are pretty handy to have around.

So, in case of zombies, y’all are free to come to Texas and hang out on the roof with us.  We’ll barbecue.

And this is why Texans are people who were born in Texas, no matter if they’ve spent all but a few days of their lives here.

Totally born, not bred :) I think zombies would avoid New York as well, these awful accents would drive them away!

Yeah. There were no guns on that bus. Canucks. Crazy, yes, but gun-toting? Only in hunting season and for drug deals.

I can hear my various cousins saying now… “He don’t like right, just shoot him. See there, he needed kill’un.”

I hate the smell of zombie barbeque, but if the target practice is good, we’ll be there.

I’ll be there with bells on…

Thanks for this…this post gave me a great, real honest to goodness laugh out loud moment. It’s stuningly true, I’m sure…I can picture Texas during the zombie apocalypse…*G*

I think he’s exactly right. You have taken away my fear of zombie attack.

Your boy is just too funny. And oh so right. My husband wasn’t born in Texas, but he did live there for eight of his formative years and I know he’d protect us from zombies.

This was the thing on the bus in Canada, right? Because I thought the same thing when I read it! Could NOT happen in Texas. Not like that, anyway.

Like that line in Miss Congeniality: “This is Texas. Everyone in Texas owns a gun. Hell, my hairdresser owns a gun!”

    Classic.

Texans and their views are so very misunderstood.

But Zombies, they will get a cap in their ass. ;-)

Yep, they’re born. My 2-year-old has never seen a gun or a movie with guns, but everything that gets into his hands becomes a weapon.
